CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND THE FINNISH EXPERIENCE

Date: 29.11.2018 at 10-12
Place: Expoforum St Petersburg, Hall B2

The circular economy provides a great opportunity for doing business sustainably. It can also be a driver for growth and investment. According to cautious estimates, the circular economy is expected to provide Finland’s national economy with 2 to 3 billion euros in added value potential by 2030 in key areas of the economy. For the European economy, the net benefit of the circular economy has been estimated at up to 1800 billion euros by 2030. The circular economy also offers significant environmental and social benefits.

Waste management and recycling are high on the agenda in Russia. Russia has adopted progressive legislation to reform the municipal waste sector. Finland has experience from similar reforms in the recent decades.

How environmentally sound practices become good business? How can innovative technologies be put to use for environmentally sound waste management?
