Five Nordic countries showcasing their expertise in Smart Nordic Tech in Moscow
The first Smart Nordic Tech arranged by the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce brought 350 Nordic and Russian company representatives together to discuss possible collaborations in Moscow.
More than 60 Nordic companies showcased their expertise to 150 Russian companies in Moscow at the end of October. In addition to Finland’s Mikko Hautala, Nordic ambassadors to Russia attending the event included Sweden’s Malena Mård, Denmark’s Carsten Søndergaard, and Iceland’s Berglind Ásgeirsdóttir.
– A Nordic collaboration event in Moscow really demonstrates the power of co-operation and networking. Smart, green, Nordic solutions, as well as new technologies, and digital services interest Russian partners. This shows in the fact that we have successfully gathered this hall full of corporate and administrative decision makers that are ready for business dialogue,’ said Jaana Rekolainen, the CEO of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce in her speech.
According to Rekolainen, the Nordic countries are open economies in which international trade and investments play a natural and important role. Smart Nordic Tech sends a powerful message that Nordic companies are interested in doing business in Russia.
– We are very happy and proud of our event, the feedback has only been positive and encouraging. I would summarise the event like this: four ambassadors, five Nordic countries, 65 Nordic and 150 Russian businesses, altogether 350 participants, approximately 700 contacts and one very happy Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce team. It will be interesting to see what kind of opportunities, trades and collaborations come out of the negotiations had during the event, says the Russian area leader Jukka Huhtanen after the event.
According to Jaana Rekolainen, the Nordic brand proved its appeal and increased the Russian business interest in the event.
– By piloting a collaborative Nordic forum in Moscow, we want to promote forming Nordic partnerships and create platforms for broader scopes of competence that could complete each other. This is a good place to continue collaboration, Jaana Rekolainen emphasises.
In Smart Nordic Tech, the East Office of Finnish Industries, Team Finland, Östkontoret, Russian embassies in Nordic countries, Skolkovo, Business Sweden and Innovation Norway worked together in the network of opportunities of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce. The main co-operative partners of the event were EY and Vostok New Ventures. Other partners included Fortum, IKEA, KPA Unicon, Stockholm School of Economics, and Tieto.
