Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is one of the wealthiest and most economically developed countries in Central Asia.

Since the 2000s, Kazakhstan’s economic growth has been significant due to market-oriented reforms, extensive mineral resource extraction, and foreign direct investments. Continuous economic growth has transformed the country into an upper-middle-income economy.

Kazakhstan is actively seeking new technologies and solutions for economic development. Finnish companies are interested in cooperation in many fields, such as mining, agriculture, education, energy efficiency, clean technologies, and water management.

In 2024, the EU exported goods worth €11.5 billion to Kazakhstan and imported goods worth €33.5 billion from Kazakhstan. The trade deficit is mainly due to imports of fuels and minerals from Kazakhstan. The EU exports machinery and transport equipment, chemicals, and food products to Kazakhstan.
