The Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce will bring Nordic and Russian companies together at the Smart Nordic Tech event in Moscow on 24 October 2019

Nearly 60 companies from the Nordic Countries will be showcasing smart solutions and new technology for possible future Russian cooperative partners at the Smart Nordic Tech Moscow event, at the Lotte Hotel Conference Centre, Novinskiy Bulevard 8, on Thursday, 24 October, 2019 at 2:00 PM.

The Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce will organise the high-level business forum and a meet and greet event as a Team Finland cooperative project together with the East Office of Finnish Industries, representing 25 large Finnish companies. The event will be held in close cooperation with Östkontoret, which represents large Swedish companies in Russia.

The Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce has organised Finnish business events in Russia since 2011. This year the event was expanded into a Nordic business event with the aim of promoting the Nordic way of doing successful business, creating new cooperative contacts, and putting forward sustainable, innovative, green, and clean solutions.

“I am proud that Nordic companies are presenting themselves together now for the first time in a common business forum in Russia. Smart, green, Nordic solutions, as well as new technologies, and digital services interest Russian customers. This means that a constant presence and an active approach are needed on the Russian market. Smart Nordic Tech sends a powerful message that Nordic companies are interested in doing business in Russia. At the same time Nordic companies have a unique opportunity to discover new kinds of partnerships with each other,” says Jaana Rekolainen, CEO of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

Speaking at the forum are Mikko Hautala, the Finnish Ambassador in Moscow, Arkady Dvorkovich, of Skolkovo, Heli Pellikka of EY and in Björn von Sivers of Vostok New Ventures.

Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland are interested in working together to develop business activities in Russia. A strong indication of this is that all Nordic embassies have taken part in planning the event. In addition to Mikko Hautala, Nordic ambassadors to Russia attending the event include Sweden’s Malena Mård, Denmark’s Carsten Søndergaard, and Iceland’s Sigríður Berglind Ásgeirsdóttir. The moderator of the event will be the Ilkka Salonen, Executive Chairman of the Board of both the East Office of Finnish Industries and the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

Taking part in the event will be a total of nearly 60 enterprises and organisations representing fields of industry, including construction, manufacturing, education, energy, waste management, agrotechnology, commerce, ICT, cosmetics, the media, and business services.

More than 300 guests are expected to attend the event. The Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce is looking for Russian cooperation partners for each of the branches of industry. They will be coming from 150 companies.

“Russian companies now have a great opportunity to find new partners and to take part in open discussions with the best Nordic companies. Participants will also have the opportunity to agree in advance on negotiations for specific branches of industry,” says Jukka Huuhtanen, Country Director for Russia at the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

The main cooperative partners of the event are EY and Vostok New Ventures. Other partners include Fortum, IKEA, KPA Unicon, Stockholm School of Economics, and Tieto.
